Who We Are

The Stone House Center for Public Humanities (CPH) is a project of Slippery Rock University.  The CPH connects the university’s humanities faculty and students to the broader community by offering exhibits, digital projects, and service-learning collaborations, all focused on bringing the insights of the humanities to bear on contemporary public life. The CPH is supported by Slippery Rock University, grants, and donors.

Learn More About The Humanities
The Humanities help us focus on creating lives of purpose and meaning, appreciating diversity and complexity, and communicating effectively with others while overcoming adversity.

Through exploration of the humanities we learn how to think creatively and critically, to reason, and to ask questions. Through the work of humanities scholars, we learn about the values of different cultures, about what goes into making a work of art, about how history is made. Today, humanistic knowledge continues to provide the ideal foundation for exploring and understanding the human experience.
